Doha, capital of Qatar and one of the municipalities, is located in the Persian Gulf. It is the largest city in Qatar concentrating 80% of its population (according to 2008 census lived in Doha and its suburbs with 998,651 people).
The city of Doha was founded in 1825, then bearing the name Al-Bida. Doha name comes either from the Arabic word "ad-dawha" translated "great tree" or the word "dohat" - bay or strait in Arabic.
Doha is the economic center of the country and hosts the Government of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin headed by Sheik Khalifa Al Thani.
