About Car Hotel, Smederevo - presentation of hotel, facilities and services offered
There are 43 rooms and apartments to choose from. Each room and apartment has its bathroom, telephone, a television with satellite programs, individual heating/ air conditioning and Internet, providing you the ultimate pleasure of staying with us. Situated on the property is a restaurant with approximately 120 seating places, which includes outdoor garden area, with fountain. Associated to the hotel is a cafe. There is a parking area available for guests. For the guests we have swimming pool, sauna and fitness, internet access, conference room for 50 stands.
Great dishes and lovely ambient will bring you divining experience while eating in our restaurant. The restaurant menu offers Serbian national dishes, such a: hot domestic breads, Sjenica cheese and cream, fresh salads, beans served in earthen dish, stuffed cabbage, cabbage soup and regional local vegetables. The specialties of the house are lamb and veal baked in earthen dishes.
Smederevo is a city of grape and wine. The modern founder of the city was the Serbian prince Djuradj Brankovic in the 15th century, who built the Smederevo fortress in 1430 as new Serbian capital. When he became lord of Tokaj in Hungary, he planted vines from Smederevo on his estates there; from these came the famous Tokaji white wine.
Smederevska Jesen, a cultural, artistic and sporting event, honoring grape and wine, takes place in Smederevo, every year during the grape harvest. Old Serbian crafts, tales, beliefs and customs are presented there, as well as Svibor program for Serbian Knights Tournaments.
While you are in Smederevo, you should also visit Church of the Assumption of the Holy Virgin (15th century). It is believed that at the beginning there was a family church and tomb of Serbian ruler Djuradj. Next to the church is a tomb of Dimitrije Davidovic "the father of Serbian journalism".
Also worth of visiting is The Obrenovics' Villa - just a few kilometers from the city center, a former summer residence of Serbian ruling dynasty the Obrenovics.
