Conveniently located near Whakapapa skifield during the ski season (June to October), within 1km of Tongariro National Park Whakapapa Visitor Centre and at the entrance to the Taranaki Falls Trail walk. The Mount Ruapehu ski area is a 6km drive up the mountain from the Village.
Skotel Alpine Resort is a 3 hour drive from Hamilton Airport, 4.5 hours from the Auckland and Wellington Airports.
The hotel is the ideal base for exploring the UNESCO world heritage parks - and the many hiking and biking trails in the area. From the hotel you can walk to Taranaki Falls, Tawhai Falls, Tama Lakes and for those up for a day trail walk, the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.
