Built in 1864, this is Sri Lanka's most famous colonial hotel. The hotel was refurbished in 2003 and has all the facilities of a first class hotel including a fitness centre with beauty salon, outdoor swimming pool, business centre. Arguably one of Colombo's finest hotels. TO/0109
The hotel has a choice of two restaurants, one is in the hotel gardens at the front of the hotel and has views of the Indian ocean and is famous for its seafood; the other restaurant inside the hotel serves a la carte international cuisine and has an excellent wine menu.
A beautiful colonial hotel, the Galle Face is three storeys tall, painted white and surrounded by palm trees with a small beach available in winter.
Bright and airy, this large lobby has high ceilings, wooden floor and a wide wood reception desk. There are seats for guests to relax in when checking in.
Rooms Description: These rooms, in the Classic (or original) Wing, have managed to maintain all of their colonial charm whilst offering all of the modern facilities. The rooms have original wooden floors and large comfortable beds. Each room has satellite TV, writing desk, tea/coffee making facilities, minibar, air-conditioning and a 24-hour room service.
Location: Overlooking the Indian Ocean and yet still in the heart of the commercial city, the property is situated in front of the Galle Face Green promenade and perfectly located for those wanting to be close to the tourist attractions and in the business centre. The hotel is 37 kms from Colombo International Airport.
