About Aviemore - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Aviemore is a town and tourist resort, situated within the Cairngorms National Park in the Highlands of Scotland. The town is popular for skiing and other winter sports, and for hill-walking in the Cairngorm Mountains.
Recognised by all initially, for it’s famous ski slopes, Aviemore is now a force to be reckoned with and plays a vital part in the Scottish Tourist Industry. This is due, in part, to its unique setting in some of the most imposing and awesome surroundings in the Highlands of Scotland but the Railway and Queen Victoria’s passionate love of the Highlands have also helped to put it on the map.
Aviemore, situated as it is in the centre of The Cairngorms National Park, and at the head of the Speyside Way, easily accessible by rail, bus and car, is a village “for all seasons” firmly set in the 21st Century. There is a diverse range of pursuits available for tourists and visitors of all ages together with a year round programme of festivals and events.
Aviemore is now enjoying the natural progression of community growth associated with a seriously popular and thriving holiday area. New housing (in keeping with the architecture of the area), visitor attractions, retail outlets, leisure amenities, excellent eateries, first class hotel, bed and breakfast hostel and self catering accommodation, together with more than adequate health, public and transport services. Add to these the Scottish Highland Heritage, natural beauty and culture and Aviemore is the ideal location for an Outdoor Activity Holiday in Scotland.
