Charleroi is a French-speaking city in Hainaut, in the Walloon region of Belgium, founded on the Sambre River during the 17th century in the Spanish Netherlands. It is located in the center of an urban agglomeration, thus being the 5th most populated urban agglomeration in Belgium.
Candva Charleroi was the capital of the Industrial Revolution, being the most prosperous in the field of coal, steel and glass production.
