Gent (flam. [ɣɛnt], French Gand [gɑ] English Gent [Ghent]) is a city located in the province neerlandofon Flanders East Flanders region of Belgium. On January 1, 2008 had a total population of 237,250 inhabitants. Gent is the capital of the Belgian province of East Flanders and Gent arrondissement. Gent is an important university city of Ghent University has over 28,000 students.
