The island is called the "Valley Isle" due to a narrow valley that lies between the volcanoes of north-eastern and south-east and due to numerous large valleys carved between the two volcanoes. The climate is one island with two seasons per year, with similar temperatures throughout the area, the difference between seasons is the amount greater than precipitation in one of them.
The main industries are tourism and agriculture in Maui. However, government research groups and technology companies have discovered that Maui has a business environment favorable for growth of these sectors.
Coffee, macadamia nuts, papaya, tropical flowers, sugar and fresh pineapple are just some of the premium products exported from the island's agricultural industry.
