Indonesia's capital Jakarta is located in northwest Java island at the mouth of the river Liwung in Jakarta Bay, with a population of 8,389,443 inhabitants. Tanjungpriok harbor (built between 1883-1886) is located about 10 km from the city. Jakarta is the principal political, administrative, commercial, financial and industrial country and a communications hub.
