Jasná - most popular ski area away from mass tourism!
Jasná offers perfect winter sports conditions, which is proven by the resort having been the host for the Junior World Championship as well as for numerous further worldwide and European FIS challenges. Especially for children the area has to offer quite a few things: In MAXIland the small ones can experience their first steps in the snow on a 4,000 m²large area. With regards to the cultural aspect, the Janko-Kráľ museum in Liptovský Mikuláš, which reminds of the famous poet and romantic writer, is surely worth a visit. The wonderful panorama of the region, diverse skiing slopes as well as its special flair promise an enjoyable holidays.
SkiWith the"Chopok" lift pass, the ski areas of Chopok North, Chopok South, Štrbské Pleso, Tatranská Lomnica and Starý Smokovec with a total of approx. 44 km of piste are at your disposal. The southern as well as the northern mountain sides can be accessed with the lift pass. Generally the northern mountain side is dominated by wide pistes, flanked by forresty areas, whereby the southern slopes around Srdiečko are more challenging and open.
The Chopok (2,024 m) is the second highest peak and Jasná is one of the largest and most popular skiing areas in Slovakia. Easily accessible from the holiday resort Liptovský Mikuláš, it is located in the Demänovská valley, in the national park Lower Tatras. The area offers perfect terrain for alpine skiing with a just under 2.5 km long illuminated piste as well as a snow park with jumps and rails. Due to its 5 free rider zones, Jasnà is also a place for regular challenges and championships.
For the 2016/17 season the ski area was upgraded and a new gondola was built between Krupová and Kosodrevina. 15 winter sport athletes can fit in one gondola.
After a strenuous day skiing, you can make yourself comfortable over a beer or the local herbal schnapps Demänovka in the rustic bars and pubs, or try some delicious dishes in Slovakian restaurants.
Countless underground cave labyrinths are located throughout the area, with the "Cave of Freedom" and "Ice Cafe" being the most spectacular and easily accessible for the public. Further activities are e.g. paragliding, ski fox, snow bike, snow scoot, tobogganing, ice skating or night skiing.
Those who rather like to dedicate themselves to cross-country skiing in their winter holiday, will find many well-pepared tracks around the area of the winter sports centre Jasná. There are two round-tracks, one to be found in Lúčky and the other in the area of Tri vody.
The equipment can easily be hired in resort. Whilst tracking through the lovely white winter landscape you can enjoy wonderful tranquility, relaxation and the breathtaking panoramic view.
