Pec pod Snezkou – skiing fun on the Sněžka!
Surrounded by numerous mountain flanks lies the spa resort Pec pod Snezkou at an altitude of 769 m, just at the foot of the highest peak in the Czech Republic, the Sněžka (1,602 m), in the eastern Giant Mountains. The former mountaineer village still resembles some traces of the past. These include, for instance, the historical mine, telling the stories of the times when ore mining was still the main industry in this region.
In the meantime the village has become one of the largest and most popular ski resorts of the country. The ski area around Pec pod Snezkou offers pistes of all difficulties and therefore something for everyone. Away from the slopes the mountain spa resort also has much to offer. Long and impressive hiking trails, for example, invite you to explore the landscape of the Giant Mountains.
SkiThe ski area Pec Pod Snezkou is located between 830 and 1,215 m altitude and offers 10 km of pistes, accessible with 11 lifts. It belongs to the most modern and most popular in the entire Czech Republic. The Javor slope is even the longest in the country. The diverse offer of pistes holds something for everyone. No matter if beginner or expert, here there is something to match every taste.
And in the evenings you can continue the sporty adventure, as the floodlights make it possible to ski up until 21:00 p.m. Also snowboarders will find what they are looking for. In the newly-built boarder park they can run riot and take on the challenges awaiting them.
New since June 2014 is a completed lift system, which brings you up to the summit of Schneekoppe.
After an active day on the piste you will find many possibilities to stay sporty in the evenings in Pec pod Snezkou. You can visit the bowling or skittles alley, or go to the disco and spend the night dancing. You can also have a fast-paced end of the day on the rail toboggan run or the snow tubing run. The resort also has a public indoor pool and an ice skating rink. Great ways to explore the beautiful surroundings are winter hikes or horse drawn sleigh rides or by dog sledding.
For all those who rather spend the evening quietly, there are some fantastic restaurants, serving regional and international dishes. Those who still want to go out after that can move on to the Meex-Club. Furthermore you will find various saunas and massage treatments to enjoy and relax with.
Pec pod Snezkou is surrounded by a well-prepared network of cross-country trails and also offers access to the popular Giant Mountain main trail. This connects the well-known towns of the Giant Mountains with each other. In total you will find approx. 88 km of trails in Pec pod Snezkou, leading you through the wonderful regional landscape and promising passionate cross-country skiers variety.
