Puerto Vallarta is a city resort spa, located in the Mexican municipality of Bahia de Banderas, the Pacific Ocean. The 2010 Census reported a population of the city of 255,725 inhabitants, making it the city it's 6th largest in the State of Jalisco. Puerto Vallarta is the city's municipal governing Puerto Vallarta, which includes the entire city and population centers around the city, stretching from Boca del Tomatlan in Nayarit state border.
The municipality has an area of 1300.67 km ² and is bordered on the north Nayarit state, in the east with the municipality of San Sebastian and the mascot and municipalities in south Talpa de Allende and Cabo Corriente.
Puerto Vallarta is named after Ignacio Vallarta, a former governor of Jalisco region. In Spanish, Puerto Vallarta Vallarta is often abbreviated, while the English call it briefly PV City Puerto Vallarta is occasionally called.
The climate in Puerto Vallarta is a typical tropical dry and wet seasons with numerous dry winter. Variations in temperatures and humidity can make the period from July to September almost unbearable. Temperature menu in a warm day is 30 degrees Celsius and the average temperature in cool fall day at 21 degrees Celsius. The rainy season extends from mid June to mid October.
