About Soldeu - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Soldeu – in the heart of the Grandvalira!
The lively village of Soldeu lies at a snow-secure altitude of 1,710 m and is situated directly at the pistes of the largest ski area of the country, the Grandvalira. Just like the neighbouring resort El Tarter, Soldeu is part of the lift network, which connects the resorts perfectly and is also well-known as venue of different FIS World Cup races. Owing to the communication road, Soldeu is very well connected with the capital Andorra de Vella and the other ski resorts and is as such like a magnet for Spanish and French ski lovers. Its location directly on the slopes makes for fantastic views across the Pyrenees.
The village is full of houses in chalet style with stone walls and wooden roofs. Moreover there are several restaurants, bars and dance locations, so that it's impossible to get bored after your day out skiing. A leisure centre with a thermal spa, a swimming pool and an ice rink ensure additional entertainment. Here everyone, young and old, will pass an enjoyable winter holiday – and all this in front of a marvellous mountain panorama.
SkiWith the lift pass "Grandvalira", 120 kilometres of pistes that are connected through 71 lifts are at your disposal. Here, the largest ski area in Europe outside of the Alpes is at your feet. This has been achieved by combining the areas Pas de la Casa/Grau Roi and Soldeu/El Tarter.
Soldeu is one of the six access points to the ski area Grandvalira. The pistes above the village are mostly blue and as such good for families. From there you have direct access via pistes or lifts to the ski areas of the resorts El Tarter, Canillo, Grau Roig and Pas de las Casa. All this taken together, the ski area Grandvalia cannot be beaten in terms of diversity. Even for beginners there is a wide range of easy runs, so that you barely have to take the same piste twice. The variety of off-piste possibilities and the unique mogul piste offer a thrill for experts. Fun parks, boardercross and FIS runs ensure a good time for cracks.
All over the ski area, you will find Wi-Fi hotspots providing you with access to the Internet. Since February 2019, you can use the Grandvalira lift pass in the Ordino Arcalís ski area, with 30 further kilometres of pistes and 15 lifts.
The après ski scene in Soldeu is just as attractive as its pistes. Several bars and clubs directly on the piste as well as along the main street offer plenty of opportunities to celebrate until the early morning hours. The Irish pub "Villager", located directly at the valley station, is the first stop after a day on the piste. The "Aspen Pub" is just as recommendable, with its charming wooden interior, the table football and the live music. A lively party scene can also be found in the après ski bars "Iceberg" in Soldeu's centre or in "Fat Alberts". Later on, night owls will be drawn to "Pussycat Disco" or to "Nemo's Nightclub" in the neighbouring village El Tarter, only to return when the sun rises.
Next to the classic après ski opportunities, Soldeu has a variety of other activities on offer, ranging from tobogganing over snowshoe hiking to dog-drawn sleigh riding. 25 km away, in Sant Julià de Lòria, there is even an all-year tobogganing ride in Alpine Coasters style, called "Tobotronc". Or you can drive to Canillo (2 km) and get your adrenalin kick zip lining at a height of 40 m at speeds up to 80 km/h. For relaxation, head to the spa centre directly in Soldeu, where you can let yourself be indulged. As such, Soldeu ensures an optimal mix of an active and relaxing holidays.
Grandvalira offers around 30 km of cross-country trails. These are centred around the village Grau Roig located at an altitude of 2,210 m and at only 10 minutes drive from Soldeu. More cross-country trails await you 25 km away in Sant Julià de Lòria with its cross-country centre La Rabassa. Here you can find excellent conditions with 15 km of trails of varying levels of difficulty. Most of the tracks lead through beautiful forests and are also suitable for beginners and professionals. There is also a challenging track in la Rabassa, spanning 6.5 km. Those who do not want to go this far away will find an easy track directly in Soldeu, the "Vall d'Incles", which stretches across 2 km through the valley with the identical name.
