Tatranská Lomnica - Fun on the piste in the heart of the High Tatra!
The tourist centre of the High Tatra lies at the foot of the mountain massive Lomnický Štítam at an altitude of 850 m. The headquarters of the Tatra National Park is located in Tatranská Lomnica, which were appointed the biosphere reserve, by the UNESCO, together with the national park of the Polish neighbour. In the museum of the national park visitors can get to know the nature, its protection and the history of the national park. Further, Tatranská Lomnica offers the perfect entrance into the ski area: The gondola lift takes you to Skalnate Pleso on the Lomnicky stit (Lomnický Peak), the second highest peak of the High Tatra.
SkiIn the Tatranská Lomnica ski area a total of 16 km of piste are open for you, connected with 16 lifts. Here, you can enjoy skiing on Slovakia's highest ski routes. At an altitude of 2,634 m, the Lomnický štít peak sits on the throne of the entire ski area. Tatranská Lomnica offer Slovakia's longest and steepest runs. These can, however, only be recommended to experienced skiers. For freeriders, there is a Freeride Zone at Lomnické Seldo. Shallower pistes suited for beginners, and for the children; a slope for snowtubing are also at your disposal. Hilly landscapes and the numerous untouched forests make this part of Europe a natural adventure.
The small but nice choice of restaurants in Tatranská Lomnica offers a cosy rounding off the day whilst enjoying the traditional dishes. Those who cannot get enough of sports have the opportunity to rush on a 2.5 km long and lit toboggan run or skid, take a ride on the horse sleigh or the bob. Even the water park "AquaCity" near "Poprad" knows how to convince you, because next to swimming and relaxing you have the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful view on the High Tatra. A further highlight in the area Tatranská Lomnica is the "Belaer stalagmite cave".
The cross-country trails of the High Tatras stretch out between an altitude of 900 and 1,350 m. A few (round) trails stretch out with 2 - 20 km length in the "Miniature Alps". Whilst creating your tracks in the well-prepared path, a wonderful view on the snowy mountain landscape of Slovakia is revealed to you.
