Baikushev Tree - details and images
Baikushev is about 8 km from Bansko and is one of the most interesting attractions of the city. It is an old tree of over 1300 years, the oldest in Bulagaria and among the oldest in the world.
The area of the tree is 7.80 meters, the diameter is 2.48 and the height is 26 meters.
The tree was discovered in 1897 by the Konstantin Baykushev forest when the region was under Ottoman rule.
He was commissioned by King Ferdinand to research the forests of Mount Pirin. Then he found the fir tree that survived after a fire, around it growing vegetation.
