Ancient City Nara - details and images
This story town is 8 km from Canakkale and rises on the ruins of the ancient city of Nagara. The castle was initially a fort built in 1807 at the same time as Bigali Castle built 5 km away, under the reign of Selim III. The fort was built to counter the siege of English ships that were about to cross the strait to advance into Istanbul. The castle is extended by Mahmut II and is built on the ruins of the former city of Abydos. To the extension of the castle was added a warehouse and a watchtower. Inside the fortress measures 9m high, it has a terrace of 2m and 26 steps.
