The Genoa aquarium is the largest Italian aquarium, the first in Europe for animal species, the third in Europe on the surface, after Moscow, Russia and Valencia, Spain and ninth in the world. It is located in Ponte Spinola, the ancient harbor of Genoa.

Architect Renzo Piano is the designer of architecture and architecture, the interior design being designed by architect Peter Chermayeff. At the time of its inauguration it was the second largest aquarium in the world. More than 25 million visitors are registered since 2014, with an average of 1.2 million per year.

About 15,000 animals from 400 different species are housed in tanks, including fish, marine mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates in environments reproducing the original species of the individual species.
