Barbakane and Florian gate - details and images
The old city wall was demolished in the nineteenth century as thwarting the expansion of the city. The only remnants are Barbakane - dating from the fifteenth century, a bastion tower, a fort outside the gate strong and Florian.
The most interesting portion of the fortifications of Krakow. It was built between 1498 - 1499, fearing attacks by the Turks. Barbacan defense was coming through the gate of St. Florian in town that was bound by its walls (neck).
In Barbacan was achieved control of coming out and entered the city. Since the shooting guard could (should aim) to both exterior and interior, while Barbacan be a trap for those who had refused intratrea city.
