Castle on the Isle of Salah Deen Pharaohs Fjord - details and images
It was built by Salah El-din (Saladin) in 1170 AD. The island had another castles before in old Arabic era and in 1116 AD by Baldwin.
The Castles have played a major rule in the crusades, Mamluk and Ottoman eras.
A small boat takes you from the hotel jetty Salah El Deen - here is a small fee and another fee for the boat to go on the island! On the way back to Nuweiba off to relax at the Fjord ... a natural bay with spectacular views.
