Chinese People's Heroes Monument - details and images
Heroes Monument is in the "Market peace of heaven" Peking. It is an obelisk, a monument erected in honor of national heroes who fell in the revolutionary struggle of the seventeenth and nineteenth century China.
The monument is 36.88 and 38.1 m high, and the base occupies an area of 3000 m2.
It was built between 1952 and 1958, is located north of the mausoleum of Mao Zedong at the southern edge of the "Square peace of heaven. " The building weighs 10,000 tonnes and has 17,000 blocks of marble and granite imported from Shandong Province. The base is sculpruri marble monument representing scenes from the revolution.
