Ruins Dacian fortress called Fairies, which is located on a hill bordering the valley of the same name, in the extreme east of the resort, on a rocky promontory called by locals Mount Fortress, confirming the presence of Dacians and Romans in what is now Covasna city.
Research conducted here has revealed many fragments of pottery and coins dating from the Roman and Dacian. Researchers think that the fortress was built and inhabited long before that time.
The road to the city takes about 2 hours on some unmarked forest roads but there are quite steep parts, not recommended for those with inadequate physical condition.
The fortress, located on a 930 m high mountain, was built as a center for Dacian communities in this area, as well as control inputs and outputs to / from the south - eastern Moldova to the south and east Transylvania Wallachia. For an effective defense was available about 200 soldiers, the number of civilians being completed by bringing various services captain who lived in the city and the soldiers who defend her.
On the terrace of the civilians living on the two soldiers had their domicile and residence in the top of the hill was the captain. Researchers believe that after the way they were raised by the size and complex fortifications, it was a high ranking chief.
Development works have been impressive, they include both obtaining a surface of 10,000 m2 terrace and the erection of fortifications to defend or support of the terraces, approx. 700 m in length.
Facilities included both cutting promontory, which was the acropolis, and the arrangement of 3-4 terraces on the edge of the North, west and south, the east is very steep. The differences in level, from the Acropolis, and the terraces are 7-8 m.
Acropolis, which covered an area of 700 m2, has a circular fortress on the plateau and even a retaining wall at its base. They impressed both by size and by how complicated construction.
Terrace I was, with an area of about 3,000 m2, was bordered by a wall, wide 2.20 to 2.50 m and consists of two parament emplecton. For parament were selected with some large stones and flat sides, and clay as a binder was used, yet there was no use of wood in the wall structure. In some areas, is kept outside parament height from 1.20 to 1.50 m, consisting of 10 to 12 rows.
Terrace II - to include an area of over 3,700 m2. Her fortress is about 250 m, it remains impressive, and they show almost the entire length of the terrace. It remains to be seen whether a wall or a reinforced wave rock.
Terrace III - a, located just west and north sides of the mountain is lower fortification long, approx. 150 m, including an area of 150 m2.
It is possible that up to the mountain, Dacians and other terraces to be arranged, as preliminary observations seem to suggest.
The ecological disaster of November 1995 led to the collapse, almost complete, the trees, rendering them from their roots and complex parts of the walls, and inventory of archaeological layer.
Archaeological research at the monument required both because of their rescue and for a better understanding of civilization Geto - Dacians in the south - east of Transylvania. Also, any conservation - restoration of the fortifications and the complex will serve as a major tourist attraction.
