Emerald Cave - details and images

The Emerald Cave is a cave located in Conca dei Marini Navy and is one of the few caves in the world, flooded with a bright emerald.

Grotto is partially filled with water. The area occupied by water, according to measurements, is approximately 45 x 32 meters and the roof of the cave is about 24 meters above sea level.

Unlike the more famous Blue Hole, located a few miles west of Capri, the Emerald Cave has no natural outlet above the waterline. The only natural opening to the outside world is just below the water. Refracted sunlight entering through the cave opening feature giving the emerald glow of water during the day.

The absence of natural openings above the waterline meant grotto existence remained unknown for many years. It was discovered by a fisherman named Luigi Buoncore 1932

The Emerald Grotto is a target because of its beauty and immensity stalagtitelor erated and its stalagmites. Access can be done either by boat or by bus. Those who opt for the bus will be able to enter the cave on the ladder or elevator. Admission fee includes tour guide and boat grotto.
