Ghetarul de la Scarisoara Cave - details and images
Scărişoara Glacier Cave is a tourist attraction of national interest, the largest ice cave in the country. Glacier, with a volume of approximately 27,000 cubic meters and an average thickness of 22 meters is, according to latest research, the largest in Europe. Scărişoara Glacier is at an altitude of 1150 m. The cave has two floors, of which only higher education is accessible to tourists. It contains stalactites and stalagmites of ice formations that undergo changes every summer from melting. The second floor, the lower one, is accessible only caving and immense formations of calcite.
