History and Navigation Museum was founded in 1773 by a donation made by Dr. Nicolas von Himse private collector, and in 1920 the building is located in Riga Castle.
He holds 500,000 articles relating to sailing past history of Riga and Latvia. History Museum has the most cultural objects from Latvia, has an impressive archaeological collection, numismatics, botany, zoology, and ethnography.
