Ice Cave - Piatra Mare - details and images
Ice Cave is a long narrow room, cold as ice, coming down the mountain.
The cave has developed a vertical crack in the limestone block. It has about 50 feet long, but it narrows so much that can be walked by anyone. Entry is a crevice between two rocks, which are like fall and a man can barely squeeze through.
Lowered area inside the cave keeps low temperatures all year round, even snow.
The rocks here are one of the favorite places for rock climbing enthusiasts. Along the journey down, you pass over a number of spectacular steep karst microforms: Bears gap.
