Jesus Church - Palermo - details and images
Church of Jesus (Chiesa del Gesu) was built by Jesuits in the center in 1564. Initially there was a monastery of monks basilieni.
The building was enlarged and transformed in the clearest example of Sicilian Baroque, though it presents some features of the late Renaissance. The church was seriously damaged by bombing in 1943 that destroyed most of the frescoes.
