Kensington Palace - details and images

Kensington Palace is a royal residences and is located in Kensington Gardens. Kensington Palace was a royal residence since the seventeenth century. Today is an important tourist attraction in London, because the presence of so many generations of women in the British royal family palace turned into one of the most stylish buildings in London. From Queen Mary to Victoria and more recently Diana, Princess of Wales, all the women of the royal family passed through here and left their mark on Kensington Palace.

Today Kensington Palace hosts private offices and apartments of a significant number of members of the royal family. The palace is furnished with objects and furniture from the Royal Collection.

From the death of Princess Margaret, a plan was drawn according to which senior members of the Royal Family will not live in this Palace and Kensington Palace will be completely withdrawn from use of the Royal Family in a generation.

Therefore, Kensington security systems are not ultra-modern metropolitan police force or video surveillance systems. This decision came to support and powerful idea that the palace is open to the public. Prince and Princess of Kent still live here, but paying a rent of £ 10,000 per month. In the past, the rent was paid to them by Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain.

Main gate of the palace is now used as the main entrance to the exhibitions and galleries hosted by Kensington.
