Lobkowicz Palace - details and images
Lobkowicz Palace is located in the eastern part of Prague Castle and is one of the most beautiful cultural sites in Prague. The palace was built in the XVI century and belonged to the Lobkowicz family. At the beginning of World War II, the palace was confiscated by the Nazis along with other properties of the Lobkowicz family. It was returned in 1945 but three years later was seized by the communist regime (1948-1989).
After more than 40 years of communism, the Lobkowicz family and became the owner of the palace (in 2002). On April 2, 2007, after more than three years of restoration, was opened to the public for the first time that private property. The permanent exhibition includes extensive collections from the collections of princes Lobkowicz family. It includes paintings, decorative arts, original music and musical instruments, a huge library of rare books and archives, weapons and armor so important.
It includes manuscripts of Mozart and Beethoven music, musical instruments and collections of weapons, paintings and decorative art. Every day, concerts take place at 13:00.
Free audio tours are available in several foreign languages: Czech, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Spanish. Last audio tour begins at 17:30.
Photography is prohibited during the visit.
