Medina of Hammamet - details and images
Medina dates from around 1500, when the high walls Hafsids front, allowing safe and trade here. The site was a fortress aghlabida earlier.
Conditions are excellent, with few roads offers authentic experience because most streets filled souvenir stalls. Some local economic activities are still present today, mainly fishing. Fish caught here, can be enjoyed in many local restaurants.
If you want to go shopping, Hammamet is neither better nor worse than any other.
There are two main axes in Hammamet: Avenue Habib Bourguiba and Avenue of the Republic, close to downtown. The Kasbah is located west and north, where the Heroes' Square is a small monument like the Eiffel Tower, in memory of the independence war heroes.
