Archaeological Museum of Mykonos was built in 1902 to house the finds at "Cave of purification" of i.Hr 426-425, which was discovered in 1898 in a necropolis of Rhenia, by D. Stavropoulos
Original neoclassical building has its current form "island" of 1934 and the east hall was added in 1972. Cycladic pottery dating from the Hellenistic period until early geometric is still displayed in four rooms of the museum.
"Pythia of Mykonos" in bas-relief representations expose the Trojan War.
Funerary reliefs dating from the Hellenistic period and many other sculptures are exhibited also in the museum. Also great are exposed to black figurines and ceramic figurines red and various findings, including tombstones and other sculptures from the Hellenistic period. Archaeological Museum is open daily all year round. Visiting hours are between 8:30 and 15:00, except Mondays.
