National Museum of Natural History - details and images

Only two years before Charles Darwin to publish his famous Origin of Species ", Museum of Natural History Merrion Street was opened to the public for the first time in 1857.

This museum is famous for its Victorian-style cabinet, which houses a collection of the best and biggest in the world, with over two million species, of which about half are insects. It is suitable for a natural history museum, which is decorated with carved panels representing mythological figures.

The zoological museum contains outstanding examples of wildlife in Ireland and the far corners of the globe, some endangered.
