Palazzo Vecchio - details and images
Palazzo Vecchio is the old town hall of Florence. At the entrance there is a copy of Michelangelo's statue of David belonging. Inside you can admire the Palazzo Vecchio collection of sculptures and Renaissance paintings, a series of wall paintings made by Giorgio Vasari.
Similar to building a fortress was built in the years 1299 - 1302, after plans by Arnolfo di Cambio, Gothic master of Florence. He managed to give the building a solid and impressive appearance, yet graceful.
Palazzo Vecchio was the seat of Florentine republican governments.
