Opera has 11,000 square meters and a stage where artists can fit 450. The audience has half the total space with 2200 seats.
Legend has it that the Empress Eugenia asked to design Garnier Roman or Greek-style building but Garnier said, "It's Napoleon III style Madame!".
The interior is decorated with velvet, gold leaf, nymphs and angels.
