Phoenix Park is one of the parks largest and most magnificent in Europe, with an area of 707 hectares. It has a historical landscape of international importance and one of the largest in any European city designed landscapes. About 30% of Phoenix Park is covered by trees, which are mainly hardwoods such as oak, ash, linden, beech, maple.
A selection of ornamental trees are grown in different enclosures. A herd of deer lived in the Park in 1660, when they were introduced by the Duke of Ormond.
Phoenix Park is a sanctuary for many birds and mammals and a wide range of wildlife habitats can be found in the park. One of these is the Furry Glen, which is managed as a conservation area.
ARAS Uachtaráin, the residence of the President of Ireland in 1750, is located in the park adjacent to the residence of U.S. Ambassador, which was built in 1774.
Many other buildings and monuments are located in the park. Dublin Zoo is also in the park!

Phoenix Park is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the year. Main Gate Park: Castleknock Gate Parkgate Street and are open 24 hours. Side gates at the Park are open from 7am until 23.
