Rozhen Monastery - details and images
Rozhen Monastery of the Birth of the Virgin Mary Pyramids of Melnik Earth. It is one of the most well-preserved Bulgarian medieval to this day.
The earliest ancient archaeological evidence of medieval life is a tomb with some coins and decorations from the time of Byzantine Emperor Michael VIII Palaiologos (1259–1282). The earliest written source of care attests to the existence of the monastery is a note about a song book from 1551.
The church was built before the fifteenth century and painted in 1597. In 1611, a painted facade of the south facade and between 1662 and 1674 was devastated by fire, destroying the library and seriously damaging the buildings. The monastery was restored in the following century, the reconstruction until 1715 and a complete loading in 1732.
