San Lorenzo Cathedral - details and images
The church of San Lorenzo, situated in Piazza Castello, is dating from the second half of the 16th century.
The baroque dome is well known for its interwoven arches and was designed by Guarino Guarini on the site of an old church. Guarini was one of Europe's leading mathematicians, and he used this to good effect in his geometrical design for San Lorenzo, which has been described as 'a great work of hallucinatory engineering'.
