Sibiu International Airport serves the city of Sibiu and its surroundings.
The number of people who crossed Sibiu Airport almost doubled in 2007 compared to previous years, from 70,000 to about 165,000 at the end of 2008.
During 2006-2008 the airport was modernized and expanded with a total investment of 77 million, of which government provided 11 million. After completion of expansion, Sibiu airport has the capacity to operate large aircraft. Also, several low-cost companies operating or announced their intention to operate the airport in Sibiu.
