Snails Hill - details and images
It is a palaeontological with an area of 4.30 ha, located on the left valley Aries, the Land of Moti, 15 km west of Campeni and 10 km north of the common otter.
This is a famous scientific reserve Senonian reef formations indicating neocretacice formed conglomerate, fossiliferous sandstones, coals and covered with marl. Dominant gastropod fossils in layers of sandstone is Acteonella of species: giant, Lamarck, and tapered, with some species of genera belonging lamellibranch: Modiolus, Arca, Crasatella, Nerita, Natica, Glaucon, etc..
Rezervatia naturala paleontologica Dealul cu Melci este situata in muntii Bihor si constituita din depozite senoniene cu mare densitate de gasteropode fosile (mii de melci ramasi din marile calde cretacice acum 15 milioane de ani) pe suprafata de 1ha.
Datorita valorii sale stiintifice aceasta zona restransa din Muntii Apuseni, ce reprezinta vechi sedimente ale Cretacicului superior, formate intr-o mare cu fundul stincos, a fost declarata rezervatie naturala.
