St. James Cathedral - Riga - details and images
The building is part of UNESCO. Church building was consecrated in 1225. Initially, it was not a cathedral, Cathedral Riga because this function. In the early 15th century Chapel of the Holy Cross was built south of the Gothic church and a part of the church was converted into a basilica.
In 1522, during the Protestant Reformation, the building became the second German-Lutheran church in Riga. In 1523 became the first Latvian Lutheran church.
