Summer Palace - details and images
Most buildings that make up the palace are placed between Kunming Lake and Longevity Hill Millennium. One of the most outstanding works is the Grand Corridor, a passageway roof more than 750 m in length.
Empress ordered to build this corridor could move to the palace without being affected by bad time outside. Corridor ceiling is decorated with more than 14,000 paintings or scenes from Chinese history. The corridor is located halfway fragrant Buddha Temple, built on the Millennium Longevity Hill.
Yulan Hall Summer Palace stayed closed for over 10 years Guangxu emperor, grandson of Empress Cixi, after trying to reform in 1898, reforms were not like his grandparents. Not allowed any contact with the outside windows and doors were locked. Have access only to a small interior pritvor.
Over 150 years old, YiHeYuan Summer Palace (Summer Palace) was built at the request of the head but Qianlong and Empress-mother offered.
In the past the Summer Palace was the place where the imperial family summer retreat. Garden Palace is the best preserved garden in China. Three quarters of the surface is only water.
Summer Palace (Summer Palace or YiHeYuan) is close to a perfect blend of natural landscapes and artificial landscapes. The garden is a model for Chinese classical gardens, is registered in the UNESCO world cultural heritage.
