The Rilski Neophyte House Museum, - details and images
The Rilski Neophyte House Museum, has a unique architecture built in the 18th century. The museum is dedicated to Nikola Poppetrov Benin one of the first activists of the educational reform in Bulgaria.
The house is located in the center of the city, near the church of the Holy Trinity. It was inaugurated in May 1981, honoring the 100 years since Nikola's death.
The museum is as decorative as in those times, surrounded by a large courtyard and stone walls with a massive wooden gate.
On the first floor there is a kitchen and 2 rooms. On the 2nd floor is the living room and the antechamber. The house also has hidden tunnels that were used by the family to hide.
The exhibition is comprised of over 400 documents, letters, books and personal items.
