Tretyakov Gallery - details and images
Tretyakov Gallery has the richest collection of traditional art and Russian painting in the world. Most of the works were collected in mid-nineteenth century by Paul Tretyakov, a wealthy Moscow merchant art enthusiast, who collected not only art, but also violin and birds.
Passionate Russian art, was to donate his impressive collection of the city in 1892, taking as being the gallery that bears his name and number of the works would later grow rapidly, making the initial gallery space to be overcrowded. And even today thousands of important pieces are kept in museum stores, the exhibition features masterpieces typical of Russian art.
