Vasco da Gama Tower (Torre de Vasco da Gama) Lisbon - details and images
Vasco da Gama tower shape reminds one of the sails of a ship and its 145 feet height of this tower is the tallest building in Lisbon. At the top of the tower there is an observatory platform, which were inspired by those nacelles on top of masts. On reaching the platform panoramic elevators with three glass walls where Lisbon can be admired in all its splendor. From the top of the tower can see the river that traverses the city and Vasco da Gama Bridge.
Opposite the tower is Sony Plaza, an outdoor arena that hosts concerts quite often and is equipped with giant screens that are submitted music videos or sporting events.
In 2007 the tower was temporarily closed and can not climb because they are working on building a luxury hotel such as Dubai. The hotel has 20 floors and 178 rooms will be named "Torre Vasco da Gama Sana Royal Hotel. Platform and panoramic restaurant on top will still be accessible after opening the hotel.
