Walt Disney World Resort or Disney World is only shortened the largest and most visited amusement park and recreational resort in the world. Located about 34 km south-west of Orlando, Florida, the resort is spread over a distance of 122 square kilometers and includes four theme parks, two water parks, 23 themed hotels including 15 owned by the Walt Disney Company, a camping area , two health spas and fitness centers and other places of entertainment and recreation.
The resort was opened in 1971 with only the Magic Kingdom theme park and then added 1 October 1982 Epcot park, Disney's Hollywood Studios Park from 1 May 1989 and Disney's Animal Kingdom on 22 April 1998.
The resort was inspired by Walt Disney's dream and his creation, Disneyland in California. His first theme park, Magic Kingdom, Disneyland Park is similar. Walt Disney wanted to build a vacation resort, to be different from the Disneyland park that could be visited in one day. This includes a greater variety of sports, recreational opportunities, fun and unique theme hotels.
