In 1154 a town called Qlwn Qalaven appears on a map or a cartographer Muhammad al-Idrisi, being described as a small town near a large castle Astlanda. Some have suggested that the Astlanda Quwri settlement could be the current aprecedat city Tallinn.
A similar name, Kolyvan probably derived from the legendary Estonian hero Kalev, appears in an early chronicle of the Eastern Slavs.
