About BrugesDetails and images of Bruges

    Bruges

Bruges is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium, in the northwest of the country, and the seventh largest city of the country by population.

    Recommendations for travel Bruges

    1. Grote Markt (Great Square). Here you can see the imposing Provincial Court building, on one side of the market, but also the Belfort van Brugge Bell tower, which rises on the other side and whose tower you can climb for a panoramic view. There are only 366 steps to climb. In addition, his collection of 47 bells is one of the best known in Europe.

The square is packed with Flemish style buildings, colorful and cheerful, and restaurants, as you would expect, are not missing. Just that, the menus start in this area from 14-15 euros.

    2. Once you get here, you can easily take it to the Beginhof district. Here, from the medieval period, beguines, widows or singles who make up a spiritual community and who have chosen to live an independent life, outside the recognized orders, live. They were organized in small communities and support themselves.

Over time, they have come to the fore not only through their purity, but also through the skills of true architects, as evidenced by this little corner of heaven in Bruges, with white houses, abundant vegetation and resting tranquility. Entrance to the inner courtyard is free.

    3. Minnewater, Lake of Love. If you have arrived in the beguines neighborhood, there is also Lake of Love two steps away. Legend has it that this lake was created by a boy as a tribute to his girlfriend who had died while running away from her father, a father who disagreed with their relationship.

Today, the lake has probably become the most romantic place in Bruges, being bordered by a park with lots of greenery, with restaurants overlooking the lake and sheltering dozens of swans and ducks.
