"Pearl of the Orient", as it was called in the days of Spanish domination, Manila now shows his true appearance. The city lies on the west coast of the main island of the Philippines, Luzon Island, surrounded by fertile plains.
The city straddles the delta of the river Pasig, a navigable river that connects Lake Laguna de Bay with the huge natural harbor of Manila Bay and South China Sea.
