Lion Mountain Trek: If you are an adventurer, then one of the things to do in Mauritius and just an hour from Belle Mare is to climb the Lion Mountian. This half-day hike, with sometimes difficult terrain and steep inclines, is a good idea. The challenging
climb is definitely worth the effort; at the top of the climb, you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the amazing views.
Shopping: Belle Mare Mauritius is known for being a considerably quieter area and only has a few shops. But it is also just a 15-minute drive to the vibrant Flacq center. Here you can deal with indoor shopping and head to the local outdoor markets (Wednesdays
and Sundays) or to the big, modern center. From lingerie and jewelry to fruit and vegetables, as well as local souvenirs, you are sure to find what you need to enjoy a shopping in Mauritius.
Beaches: Belle Mare has a sensational beach and, at 10 km long, is not only one of the best beaches, but one of the longest beaches in Mauritius. It's great for long romantic walks or jogging, but it's also the perfect place to sit and relax under the filao
trees that adjoin the beach. Belle Mare has a reef-protected lagoon, where some of the best things to do are swim or water sports.
If you are a fan of diving, then right on the shore of Belle Mare is an amazing place called Le Passe de Belle Mare. However, this is just one of the many excellent diving centers in Mauritius. For those who prefer snorkelling, the lagoon makes an incredible
place to see a number of living marine life.
