Puerto Vallarta is the city's municipal governing Puerto Vallarta, which includes the entire city and population centers around the city, stretching from Boca del Tomatlan in Nayarit state border. The municipality has an area of 1300.67 km ² and is bordered on the north Nayarit state, in the east with the municipality of San Sebastian and the mascot and municipalities in south Talpa de Allende and Cabo Corriente.
