Boekelo

Boekelo

Boekelo is a Dutch village in the Enschede district in the south of the Netherlands with a population of about 3,000 people and is located just west of the village of Usselo. The village is best known for the international equestrian military event, Boekelo Enschede, but also for the salt industry that later moved to Hengelo and the Grolsch brewery, which moved here leaving the factories in Groenlo and Enschede. The old site of the Texoprint factory, the former Boekelosche Stoomblekerij in 1888, has been transformed into a new residential area, "De Bleekerij". The industrial buildings and the chimney from the construction site have received a destination within the urban development plan and, therefore, will be preserved for the future.
